Your hosts

– a family to bite into

The Hörl family, Werner & Sabine, have been running the Fish’Inn with their children Sebastian & Anna since 2005. A lot has happened in that time, and the classic Austrian family business Fischerwirt has become today’s Fish’Inn. The next generation in particular has been able to realize their dreams with this project. The Hörl family has plenty of experience in the hotel and catering industry, the partner hotel Romantikhotel Zell am See has been family-owned since 1920. The four of them have made it their goal to combine modernity and tradition, which is why the connection to the original FISCHerwirt is visible and tangible everywhere, as the roots of the traditional Zeller business go back a long way, to 1480.

History of the Fischerwirt

… really interesting

The Fischerwirt was probably built around 1480 and was owned by bishops from Chiemsee (Germany) for the first few decades. It was looked after by Fischhorn Castle in Bruck, which was also managed by the Bavarian bishops. The Fischerwirt thus has a long history as a traditional inn.

As fate would have it, it came back into the possession of the Hörl family in 2005. Almost 100 years ago it was owned by the Hörl family’s ancestors, the Wohlfahrtstetter family. Werner’s great-grandparents bought the Fischerwirt in 1912, but had to sell it again in October 1942 during the difficult war period. The Fischerwirt was then owned by the Mitterwurzer, Rohregger & Wieser families for several decades until it was bought back on 27th of May 2005.

The Fischerwirt has hosted several celebrities, including Toni Karas, the composer of the famous film “The Third Man”, who performed there.
